Finnish Christmas Bazaar 2024
Are you looking for a fun and festive way to get into the holiday spirit? Look no further than the Finnish Christmas Bazaar in Washington, D.C.! This beloved annual event, which has been running for over 50 years, takes place on the Saturday before Thanksgiving and offers visitors a chance to experience the magic of Christmas while shopping for unique gifts from the Land of Santa Claus. You can also catch up with old friends and make new ones while enjoying coffee or hot glogg with gingerbread or pulla at the Christmas Cafe. Best of all, the funds raised at the bazaar grovide scholarships to educational and cultural institutions in Finland and the United States.
We’re always looking for donations to help make the bazaar successful, including vintage Finnish glassware, dishes, wall hangings, jewelry, and artwork. We can even arrange to pick up your items, just let us know at finnspark1949@gmail.com.
We also need craft items to sell, such as knitted socks, hats and scarves, aprons made from Finnish fabrics, and Christmas ornaments and felted bracelets. We hope to have a few crafting sessions leading up to the event, so stay tuned for more details. Directions:
From Capital Beltway:
Exit 39 River Road East (to Washington). Continue about 2 miles. Turn left on Whittier Blvd. Enter the parking lot from Whittier Blvd, the second gateway on the left.
From Washington, DC:
Go north on Wisconsin Ave. After Albermarle, turn left on River Road. Continue about 4 miles. After Goldsboro Road, continue 1/4 mile to Whittier Blvd and turn right. The Church is on the northwest corner of River Road and Whittier Blvd. Enter the parking lot from Whittier Blvd, the second gateway on the left.
You may park on neighboring residential streets if the church parking lot is full. The church is an easy-access facility.
