Beginner I Finnish language

This course is designed for absolute beginners. You will be introduced to spelling, pronunciation and fundamentals.

What you’ll learn

By the end of the first semester, students will have learned pronunciation and entry-level knowledge, e.g. everyday expressions, basic phrases, personal introductions and initial interactions with others, using slow, clearly pronounced Finnish.

Requirements

No previous exposure to Finnish language required. Students will learn basic conversational skills, as well as entry-level vocabulary and grammar.

To enroll in our Finnish language courses, students must demonstrate proficiency in English. This requirement ensures that all participants can effectively engage with the course materials and instructions provided in English.

Fees

Tuition for the year is $340; the first attended semester in an academic year will be $180 and the second semester is discounted to 160$.

Payment is expected no later than the second class meeting of each semester.

Class placement

After registration, all students will be assigned an appropriate class level, based on their level of proficiency in the Finnish language.
